Announcement: Clone Wars Bloopers Has Moved To The SWU

For almost two years now I have enjoyed bringing you Clone Wars Bloopers, where I pick apart each episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and give my analysis of the production mistakes. Throughout this time I have been heavily involved with another fan community; the Star Wars Underworld. So far I have kept   this blog, and CWB, separate from the SWU. But with the launch of the Underworld's new site I feel it's time for that to change.

I'm very excited to announce that Clone Wars Bloopers will now be moving from this blog to StarWarsUnderworld.Com. All past editions, covering seasons one through four are there now there, along with Revival & the Onderon Arc from season five. And you can expect all future editions to be posted there as well. Origin Of The Underworld

My name is Ben Hart and you probably know me as the "Founder" of the Star Wars Underworld, which basically means I'm the dude who clicked the "Create page" button way back when.  Today marks the Underworld's second anniversary and I wanted to take some time to explain how exactly the Underworld came to be. It's nothing compelling or thrilling, just a little tale about how I ended up in the right place at the right time...

I've been a Star Wars fan for as long as I can remember. I will admit there were times when my fandom faded in and out, sometimes I would become hyped up about other things, but nothing ever stuck with me like Star Wars did. After the release of Revenge of the Sith not much was going on in the Star Wars universe. During that period I kept my fandom alive by hunting down and watching fan films like "Ryan VS Dorkman" and playing Battlefront II.

Then came 2008 and the Clone Wars film, I was pretty excited for it but ultimately I wasn't able to catch it in the theater. The Clone Wars fell off my radar for a while, until one Saturday I discovered that the first two episodes of the newly launched series were available on iTunes. I was skeptical of this whole Clone Wars thing but I decided to give it a shot and buy one of the episodes, and it was the second episode Rising Malevolence. It was love at first watch. I was blown away and preceded to watch it many more times that day. Needless to say I became an avid viewer of TCW, and soon after began chatting with other fans on the episode guides on starwars.com.

Meanwhile, I had joined Facebook, and for a while I had wanted to start my own page on the site. But I knew one thing for sure: It wasn't going to have anything to do with Star Wars. Reason being, all my friends and Family were well aware of my love for Star Wars, I wanted to do something that would impress them. Creating a Star Wars page would be too predictable. Plus, I felt that I was too "Into" Star Wars, that it may even be immoral to be almost obsessed with the Saga as I was. Oh how wrong I was.

Season one of TCW came and went, on Starwars.com I took on the screen name "AdmiralTrench" and befriended several people, including "Rexbeatsall", a.k.a Anthony, who had his own site called "watchtheclonewars.com". Through it he provided episodes of TCW shortly after(Or sometimes before) they aired for those of us who couldn't watch them on TV. About midway through Season two Anthony started a new site called "Master Toons" which served the same purpose and more. It was not long after until we started noticing our posts disappearing, especially those linked to MT.

The admin there was obviously cracking down on us, for good reason of course. Within this I saw an opportunity: We needed a private place to chat and share links to MT, and perhaps I could give this Star Wars Facebook page thing a try after all. And since I didn't know a single person who liked Star Wars as much as I did, this would give me a chance to finally share my love of the Saga. But first I wanted to know what my friends on Starwars.com thought of the idea. So I posted this:

The reaction wasn't encouraging, those who did respond predicted that it most likely wouldn't be successful. But there was no turning back, I was now determined to make this happen regardless of what anyone thought.

The next day, April 10th 2010, I created a page and called it "Clone Wars Commentary". A few minutes later I deleted it, realizing that not only was it a stupid name but it would be foolish to limit myself to strictly TCW when I loved the entire Saga. So I started over and came up with a more original name, one that reflected the mission of this page, which was to exchange information secretly and beyond the watchful eye of the "authorities". And it was "The Star Wars Underground". But alas, there was already a fan group called "Underground" on Facebook. So I went back to the drawing board and settled for "Underworld". Although I can't recall exactly how I came up with Underworld, I'm willing to guess the Season two finale trailer helped inspire me, since it mentions the Coruscant Underworld.

And so it began, by that night it had 7 fans. Within a week it had gained 40, and the next 107. In that period Chris, Jordan, Ruari and Dave stumbled upon it, just to name a few. I ran it solo for a few months, and even managed to start up a Twitter and Forums. Not long after I was preparing to shut down the page for a couple weeks because I was going on vacation, when Anthony suggested that Chris and Jordan should be made admins to take over in my absence. I complied and little did I know it would be the best thing that ever happened to the Underworld. And the rest, they say, is history...

If there's any moral I want to convey through this, it's this: Don't let anyone, including yourself, discourage you from pursuing your passions. If you know it and love it, then embrace it! Don't worry about what others might think, just do it!!

In conclusion I would like to thank EVERYONE who has Liked, followed, shared, tweeted, and supported us these past two years! I would also like to send out my most sincere thanks to the entire SWU crew: Chris, Jordan, Dominic, Savanna, Tanner, Kyle, Dave, Ruari, Trey, the list goes on! You have made the Underworld what it is today! You have all changed my life and I can't thank you enough!

Update!

I got bored with my last Background pic and I replaced it with this one.

I took this one from the ferry as we we're leaving Ellis Island, it turned out great.

I also want to mention I have two projects in the works plus, if I'm lucky, I'll have another edition of CWB up Saturday or Monday to accompany "Altar of Mortis".

Awesome Fan Documentary!

There's this guy on YouTube named Jambe Davdar who's taken it upon himself to make fantastic documentaries for the Original Trilogy films. He's already made "Building Empire" for TESB and "Returning to Jedi" for ROTJ. He's now slowly uploading parts of "Star Wars Begins" for ANH which is amazing as well. I have to say this puts most Lucasfillm Docs to shame. It's essentially a fan made commentary, as you watch the movie you get to see behind the scenes footage, alternate takes, deleted scenes, all while listening to interviews with the cast and crew. Take a look at all of them and tell me what you think.

Name change/new pic!

I just now realized that the name of my blog was "This is this Blog your looking...".  What the heck!?! Did any of you guys notice this? I sure didn't. What bugs me is I think it's been like that ever since I created this thing. Needless to say it has it's proper name now. :-)

"Witches of the Mist" Clip Blooper

A lot of you having been telling me about this since I posted "Clone Wars Bloopers" and I haven't noticed it 'till now. 

In a preview clip for "Witches of Mist" you can see when Dooku lifts the pillars with the Force that specifically the pillar behind and to the left of Savage is being lifted also.

 In the next shot the pillar is sitting on the ground....

 ...and then in the next shot it's in the air again.

And this is what it looked like in the finished episode.

Obviously the camera angle was changed in order to compensate for the goof.

I couldn't put this in CWB because it was fixed but it's still an interesting blooper.

Review - "Pursuit of peace"

Ok, so this episode wasn't fantastic but I did enjoy it. It seemed to have a good mix of action, suspense and yes, plenty of political talk. I didn't say anything about it in my last review but Mina Bonteri's death was not a surpise. In "Heroes on both sides" while Padme is talking with Palpatine about Bonteri, an evil look came across his face when he say's "Bonteri? How was the dialogue established?", I immediately thought "He's going to have Bonteri killed!". I assumed that before the end of the episode they would somehow show or say that she had been killed. That wasn't the case.. till now. It only makes sense for Palpatine to have Dooku eliminate anyone who threatened to end the war.
With that said, her son Lex, according to the Episode guide, is still alive. It also says that "His next interaction with the Jedi or the Republic should prove interesting." So I guess we'll be seeing him in a future episode, probably fighting for the Separatists and convinced that The Republic killed both his Parents. The last two episodes have given me a new perspective on the war. Neither side is truly evil, just the people that control them. Bonteri and her family were good people but they stood behind those like Count Dooku and General Grievous who have committed so many aristocracies that they couldn't possibly support if they knew the truth.

Padme's aid, Teckla Minnau was a good addition. It might be good to have a companion for Padme besides Bail or Ahsoka if she shows up in future episodes. I thought it was extremely stupid when Padme took off walking by herself on the Streets of Couruscant. Yes, I know for the sake of the story and the action she had to be where she was but come on?

Other Senators are being attacked right and left and you, the Senator leading the charge against the bill wants to walk a couple of desolate blocks ALONE? The Speeder bike chase that followed was great, especially the ROTJ sound affects. It was really the only stand out-fantastic thing that happened in the episode, other than the ending. It really topped the episode off , this is the first time we've seen Palpatine show his true colors.

 All in all we learned a few things from this episode: Robobino's a bad driver, Bail's got a mean left hook, Padme wears a wig, Onoconda isn't a comedian and Police droids drink Coffee (Who knew?). I give this episode a 6 out of 10. Maybe more than it deserves but this one had some intriguing qualitys. Well I hope I didn't completely bore you with my first long review, I can't wait to review the episodes to come but it looks like we'll have a bit of a wait. Goodbye Irvin

With the recent news of Mr. Kershner's passing I felt driven to share this short story with you guys. I had a copy of "The Empire Strikes back" from the first DVD release of the Original Trilogy, I carried it everywhere with me and watched it all the time. Since the premier of The Clone Wars TV series I didn't watch the movies as much as I used to but when I'd have a Hankering to watch the Saga I would always reach for my trusty "Empire" DVD. A few months ago I misplaced it, after several periodic searches I finally decided last week it was time to buy a new one. Sunday night I ended up in the electronics section of a Wal-Mart. One rack, which had obviously been hit hard by "Black Friday" shoppers, caught my eye. Near the middle of the almost empty rack lay a single copy of "ESB", nine bucks later it is was mine. What I didn't know is that the Director of the fine film had passed away mere hours before. He will be missed greatly and his legacy as the director of such a film Masterpiece like "Empire Strikes back" will live on forever. On behalf of the SWU fan community, myself and Fans Worldwide may I extend the most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Irvin Kershner. Godspeed and May the Force be with you.

Review - Clone Wars Episode 3.10 "Heroes on both sides"

This was definitely been one of the better politcial episodes this season.  The dialogue didn't seem to bore me like it has in the past, it didn't take long to jump into the interesting stuff. Anakin and Ahsoka's new looks are awesome, their "makeovers" were long overdue.  The infiltrator droids were awesome but it seemed like it took them forever to get to the action, I found myself saying "come on! Transform already!" When they finally did go into attack mode all the did was massacre a bunch of defenseless workers. Needless to say I would love to see more of these droids. In all this time it never dawned on me that the CIS had a capital and a Senate. I've always put them in a similar category as the Rebel Alliance, them being on the run all the time and never really having anything permanently established anywhere. I always thought the Sepratist council (Wat Tambor, Nute Gunray, San Hill ect.) was in control of everything, I didn't realize the Seps had a representative government like the Republic. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Raxus and the senate. I would especially like to see the Republic attack Raxus like the CIS attacked Coruscant in "Revenge of The Sith". A military campagn centered around this planet would be amazing and the possibilities are endless. Alright, enough dreaming! Overall I think this was a good episode, not one of my favorites but a major step up for this season. Well I guess that about does it, yes it I know it was short and very late but I hope to be better prepared for "Pursuit of peace" which airs next week. Clone wars scene switcheroo!

Hello and welcome to my blog! Here I hope to be posting periodic reviews and more detailed content I don't get to share with you guys on the Underworld! Right now lets get down to business. The first time I watched the second to the last Clone Wars episode "Hunt for Ziro" (which was awesome, btw) I immediately noticed something different. There is a scene in "Hostage crisis" (The episode that immediately precedes "hunt for Ziro" chronologically)  where Cad Bane, Ziro and the rest of the gang are flying away from the Senate just after Bane has detonated the explosives that surrounded the Senators. Those of you with a keen eye would have noticed that the pillar of smoke from the explosion is billowing from the Senate Rotunda (The large mushroom shaped building), not the domed Republic Executive Building as seen in the first part of the episode. Star Wars Insider recognized the mistake and said it might be corrected in a future "Special edition" release of the Season 1 episode. So now, two seasons later, we come to "Hunt for Ziro". In the opening news reel the same scene flashes up on the screen but it's different, they've fixed scene and moved the smoke to it's rightful place on the opposite building. But they didn't stop there, the structure on the bottom of the dome has changed, the texture of the buildings have changed and they even changed some  of the surrounding buildings. They did a complete makeover of the shot. Check it out below.
